In 2012, I started to book our family trips through hotel booking sites. Your inquiries come in handy with the detailed information available for every traveler. The most recent trip we had was in Puerto Princesa, Palawan last September 2016. We booked a 2 room suite at Astoria Palawan for 4D/3N. The accommodation comes with breakfast buffet, shuttle service and private amenities such as infinity pool, fat bikes, kayak boats, paddle boards and nearby Palawan water park access. City tours and tourist spot tours are charged separately but can be scheduled with hotel assistance.

Palawan travelers should expect to cash in when visiting tourist spots, they charged individually but it’s worth the visit as CNN Travel’s Kristine Fordham includes Palawan in her article entitled “21 of the World’s Most Beautiful Beachfront Hotels” (September 21, 2016)  and another one by CNN Travel “Philippine’s Best Travel Beaches and Islands” (February 2014).

Sharing with you some basic tips to keep in mind when planning your trip to the Philippines.

10 Tips and Guides:
1. Book in advance to avail the best deal.
Advance booking makes it easier for you to get the room rates cheaper if you’re after peak season.

2. Vacation season
Off peak season has its own perks, rates are way a lot more affordable. For travelers who seek a smaller crowd these days are the most perfect.

3. Plan your trip according to your needs.
If it’s a family trip, look for kid-friendly activities and a safe environment. For “barkada” adventures (group of friends) there are hotel accommodations situated near the places to dine and enjoy.

4. Research the location.
Calculate the travel time from airport to hotel destination, same thing when availing city tours, island hopping and tourist spots.

5. Beach resort location.
Most travelers who seek hotel accommodation with a beachfront. They get the best out of their vacation. Keep in mind the nearby restaurants and shops availability.

For budget travelers, they welcome the accommodations within the boundaries or walking distance from the beach. With this kind of preference, they get cheaper rates.

6. Hotel service and amenities
In any booking site, hotels are qualified from high-end to average (5 star to 3 star), apartment, hostel, dormitory or transient house. Some offer airport shuttle for free (bundled with the accommodation) or for an extra cost.

7. Emergency Hotlines
When you travel in far places, safety should always be your concern. Plan ahead and get to know your resort/hotel location. Hospitals, clinics, drug stores, grocery or convenience stores and police stations should be within the vicinity.

8. Overall Rating and Feedback
Get to know the customer feedback from their own travel experience. Weigh down the options, it’s not because the other customer hated the service at the time of their check-in period. Keep in mind that we have different preferences. What’s not okay with you may be good for me and vice-versa. It’s a matter of choice, be smart enough to detect the most logical and honest opinions.

9. Research the official website
Some hotel accommodations have their own website where you can access full details. Compare the offer from the booking sites to get the best deals you’re hoping for.

10. Choose a booking site
There are numerous booking sites online. I suggest you keep an eye on two or three booking sites, which ones interest you most and work within your budget line. What I look for are model booking sites that are user-friendly, with filter options and detailed variables. Register ONLY with one booking site to avail the point system. You can save up the earned points and eventually redeem it in one of your future trips.

Hope these travel tips help you in your trips, if there’s any concern you may want to add just contact us. 🙂 Be safe and have fun!
