Each planned adventure, as the saying goes, begins with a good map. Below is a diagram showing the locations of the MRT 3 and the LRT lines 1 and 2.

Disclaimer: This is the most recent and complete map that is currently available online. This map does not take into account newly constructed stations or lines. MRT 7 is still under completion. Despite this, the map is still useful, especially for Manila commuters who need to navigate from point A to point B.

The state of Manila commuters

Those who live or work in the metropolis of Manila and commute there use public transportation to get to and from their destinations. The Philippines’ capital, Manila, is one of the most densely inhabited cities in the world with a population of over 12 million. Due to the overwhelming number of commuters, the transportation system is frequently overburdened, resulting in frequent traffic jams and extended travel times.

In Manila, buses, jeepneys, and trains are the most frequently used public transit options. Particularly during rush hour, buses and jeepneys are frequently overcrowded, forcing passengers to stand for extended periods of time. Moreover, trains are frequently used, especially the LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 lines, which provide service to many areas. However, the train system is often plagued by technical problems and breakdowns, which can cause significant delays.

When taking public transportation in Manila, travelers must contend with a number of issues, including safety worries, protracted wait periods, and a lack of seating. The government has taken a number of actions to solve these problems, including building new transportation infrastructure, increasing the number of trains and buses in the fleet, and tightening safety requirements. Despite these efforts, Manila commuters still face daily struggles with transportation, which can impact their quality of life and ability to access employment, education, and other essential services.
