The Philippine K-12 Curriculum
Free Download – In Full Text
Last school year 2012, Philippine education officially implemented the K-12 curriculum. A far-cry from most parents (the average and poor sectors) who were unprepared in facing education advancement. Everyone knows the country (in public schools preferably) is drastically left behind in terms of curriculum adjustments. I believed this is the right phase to fully operate it, how else can parents and students understands the motives and adapts to change and improvement when the government and its people slows down progression?
Early Literacy Clinic (ELC) Quezon City
Moving Up Prep! 🙂
Preschool in Metro Manila
Nothing can compare the joy of a parent knowing your child (at an early age) reaps success through its own effort. We’ve been practically saying how we’ve encountered a good progressive preschool founded by teacher Mimi (Prop. Zosima Medrano), Early Literacy Clinic (ELC) has a good support and foundation and we’re lucky to be strategically located within the school perimeters. Google up teacher Mimi (keyword: “Zosima Medrano”) and find out more about her background; a dedicated educator and a very simple individual.

Parents provide and influenced their children by exposing them to different kinds of activities associated with motor skills, mental/emotional development, talent development and academic enrichment. Expecting these kids to polish their interest and reach its full potentials. While for some parents with high standards, enrolling a child to an after-school program could perhaps create fear and pressure to establish itself to become an achiever. Most parents may not recognize the long-term effect that could slow down the child’s progress. Instead we “overfeed” them without really trying to genuinely motivate them in order to establish adequate brain fitness or learning skills. “Motivation is closely linked to be competent and successful at a task.” For common misconceptions, parents fairly believed they are doing the right decision for the kids. At this age of information, the ground rule is to explore and have an open mind. That we can help our kids with a support system tailored to their needs. When I first heard of a brain-based center here in Manila, the center must be really something for brain stimulation, sound engaging and fun at the same time.

Summer Activities For Kids this 2013
Mind and Body
Philippines is beginning to feel the summer heat as the school year ends and laid back days for the children is about to begin. Most children and young adult will spend the long and lazy phase as they juggle around different summer activities for kids that are worth spending. Home-based recreation and pastime may attract boredom and redundancy such watching TV, video and online games. Alternative summer activities outside your home are an ideal form of learning and at the same time having fun in honing the natural talents of your child. Let their creative minds and abilities shine as they explore their growing years. Expose the children to a creative approach to properly sharpen the imagination by letting them join workshops, summer camps, enrichment studies and other exciting summer activities.
2nd Singapore Math Learning Festival 2013
Organized by Galileo Enrichment Learning Program
February 9, 2013
Held at Crowne Plaza, Manila Galeria, Philippines
What did I benefit from 2nd Singapore Math Learning Festival? Sure I can share a few model approaches I learned from this event. My worries is that our child is about to enter grade school, how can we meet the needs and availability of a progressive school with integrated Singapore Math curricula (if I wanted to pursue it). With average resources my family has and limited schools available (based on our vicinity) to enroll at. How can I ensure she gets quality education, proper teaching method, quality teachers, holistic approach and creative environment?

Grade Schools in Manila
A few days ago, I posted over facebook a status that says “grade school hunt is ON!” believe me, scouting for possible progressive grade schools in Quezon City area is quite stressful. It’s the season for us to research and ocular check for our incoming grade schooler. I came to know some of the schools located along Don Antonio Avenue, Commonwealth, and Diliman areas. Also, I received recommendations from other locations as well such as those from Sikatuna Village, Timog and even Marikina City.
Here’s a comprehensive lists of Progressive Schools and Traditional Schools in Quezon City based on the information I gathered.
