April 2020. Manila Hotel, Ermita, Philippines. We were invited to the Pediatrics Convention 2010 last summer as part of the Pfizer Group. Manila Hotel being known as an old historic hotel gets creepy at nights and the atmosphere was something like, we can’t explain, maybe it’s just us waking up at 3:00am.  But the overall accommodation experience remains to be something Filipinos should be proud of.

The hotel accommodation at that time with the on-going convention we attended includes a buffet breakfast for doctors and its whole family at the Mabuhay Palace and unlimited use of the hotel’s amenities.

Here’s a few old facts about this place: Built and opened its doors in 1912 , the Manila Hotel has been known as the “Address of Prestige” has hosted some of history’s most illustrious and discerning guests like Gen. Douglas MacArthur, President Dwight Eisenhower, Emperor Akihito of Japan, Prince Charles, Marlon Brando & world-renowned writer Ernest Hemingway to name a few.

Already dubbed as a national landmark in the heart of Manila, no other hotel can boast of being such a significant witness to Philippine history. Hence old age hotels crawl upon those who want some extra (feels) adventures, don’t believe in everything I say though. Book  your accommodation and have a blast!

No other hotel in the center of Manila can claim to have witnessed as much of Philippine history as this one, which has already earned it the title of national landmark in the heart of Manila. Don’t believe all I say, though. Old age hotels crawl upon people who desire some more (feels) adventures. Make your hotel reservations and enjoy yourself!

The rooms were luxuriously furnished with a traditional Filipiniana theme and equipped with modern amenities for utmost comfort. Their 500 guest suites each have a stunning view of the bay and the renowned Manila sunset.

the Manila Hotel main lobby or “Grand Lobby”

Walking around the renowned main lobby gave us chills! I even requested that the hotel employees shoot a few odd photos of my toddler and I when we were being serenaded by classical music in the backdraft of the Manila Hotel. The elegant chandeliers have a vintage feel to them. The main lobby of The Manila Hotel is renowned for its elegance and vintage charm, which have been kept intact for nearly a century. A rich heritage of the best of the Philippines’ hospitality greets you the moment you arrive. The Manila Hotel’s grand history is reflected in the lobby’s original Amorsolo paintings. A good location to unwind is provided with nightly musical entertainment, bar favorites, and beverage options.

I heard about the difference between the red carpet and green carpet of the Manila Hotel. Not sure if the red are the old rooms while the greens are the renovated or vice versa.

The Manila Hotel stands proudly along Manila’s main boulevard, just 20 minutes away from Ninoy Aquino International Airport. It lies on 3.5 hectares of lush green shoreline and is centrally located near Manila’s most famous historic landmarks: Rizal Park & “the Walled City” of Intramuros. The Manila Hotel is also strategically accessible to Makati Central Business District as well as family fun entertainment sites like: SM Mall of Asia & Manila Ocean Park. In Malate, which stands just a drive away from the hotel, the nights are always endless. If that’s not your vibe, you can play a few holes at the Club Intramuros Golf Course or visit nearby shops & galleries. Should any travel needs arise, airline & travel offices surround the hotel & are available to serve. A daily shuttle service is available at the hotel, providing guests with easy access to key locations such as SM Mall of Asia, Robinsons Ermita & Intramuros.
