“Built by Collectors for Collectors“

Are you the type who collects particular items and keeps on stacking them ’til the very end? They say collecting stuff especially the rare ones and eventually making it as a hobby involves a deeper understanding, why they drive themselves into an interest that entails time and resources. Here in the Philippines, a stunning growth of collectors and hobbyists gathers to parade individual hoards, socialize and have a sense of fulfilment. There are many reasons behind each collector’s mind and what fuels their passion. Unfortunately, there’s also a lot of room for improvement. This led Mr. Frederick Puno, CEO and founder of Collectors Hive to create an innovation where collectors’ can communicate and interact with each other.
Established in April 2016, Collectors Hive is an online portal created to address the foreseen concerns of the collectors such as conventional spreadsheet of collectibles, lack of social community support, divided groups, lack of appreciation, market and innovation especially in this digital age. These are some of the things that hobbyists struggle on.
Collectors Hive provides a way to keep valuable memories, create a wholesome atmosphere for collectors and connect them together. Collections vary from a wide variety of Toys to Breweriana, Tobaciana, Coins, Fashion and Trading Cards to rarest and expensive Paintings, Petroliana, Furniture, Antiques and Vintage Cars. Other types of collections that aren’t mentioned above are very welcome.
According to Mr. Puno, “Diverse collectors can be united into one community where they can socialize, market their items, gain appreciation and emotional support. Our target goals include searchable rare items when you cannot find it anywhere, act as social media for enthusiasts and journal every collection they have.”
He added, “The Philippines has about 110 million population and more than 50% are active smartphone users. Technology has progressed far and so the collection community must advance too. Collectors Hive has over 108 million collectibles to date already and continuously growing because we have so many hobbyists around the world.”
Mr. Puno and team first introduced the website: www.collectorshive.com that features a social media platform for collectors. Users can simply login directly using their Facebook account. It generates instant profiles, information and access. Whenever they have a new collectible, manual input can be done or simply use their mobile app item scanner. The website allows users to interact with fellow users, trade and sell items, get badges and the opportunity to be a colony leader. Colony leaders control quality in their category expertise. They are experts who help “police” the site so Collectors are assured of accurate and fully detailed items listed on the catalogue.
Collectors Hive app: Item Scanner
Collectors Hive has an innovation in this mobile technology called the Item Scanner. It aids the collector on manual data input of a particular collection item. The user needs to scan the barcode only and information will be generated quickly and stored. Another features are the comparison of specs, prices and stock availability of the item from different international and local store sources. It’s now available for download using Android phones by visiting the Google Play store.
Register from the app by signing in with an active Facebook account or manual register with your email address and password. Create your profile with an avatar and a brief info about your interest. from your profile, user can view the following details of your collection:
Total Collection Piece
Number of Main Collections
Number of Clusters
Collector have two options to input item data, either to scan the barcode or manually input the details. Item Scanner acts as a network of friends too, you can add/search a collector with the same field of interest. What’s ideal about this app is the ability to compare items and check its authentication, it can also carry out random searches of items directed to a particular cluster.
Mr. Puno remarked, “For the love of collecting, we are progressing fast and many profiles are coming in already. We are looking forward for more integrations and improvements in future.”
